~* DID YOU THINK TO PRAY? *~
Mary A Kidder

Let us therefore come boldly unto the throne of grace, that we may obtain mercy, and find grace to help in time of need.
Hebrews 4:16

One of the most important emphases of the Christian faith is prayer, both for our own daily guidance and as the undergirding power of the God Who hears and answers prayer! We need His power for the spiritual journey He has placed before us.

What is prayer? To many, prayer is regarded as a foolish repetition of words, a refuge for weaklings, a good luck "mantra", or a childish petition for material needs. How sadly this reservoir of God's power is undervalued when perceived in these terms, just as we would underestimate electricity if we talked of it only in terms of a 4-watt night lightbulb.

For the child of God, prayer is far more than the mere gratification of our human whims. It is the practice of acknowledging the presence of Almighty God in every activity of our daily lives. It is obedience to Him, for many, many times in His Word we are commanded always to pray, and not to faint!

Prayer is so simple. It is like quietly opening a door and slipping into the very presence of God.

Ere you left your room this morning,
Did you think to pray?
In the name of Christ our Savior,
Did you sue for loving favor,
As a shield today?

CHORUS
O how praying rests the weary!
Prayer will change the night to day;
So when life seems dark and dreary,
Donít forget to pray.

When you met with great temptation,
Did you think to pray?
By His dying love and merit,
Did you claim the Holy Spirit
As your Guide and stay?

CHORUS
O how praying rests the weary!
Prayer will change the night to day;
So when life seems dark and dreary,
Donít forget to pray.

When your heart was filled with anger,
Did you think to pray?
Did you plead for grace, my brother,
That you might forgive another
Who had crossed your way?

CHORUS
O how praying rests the weary!
Prayer will change the night to day;
So when life seems dark and dreary,
Donít forget to pray.

When sore trials came upon you,
Did you think to pray?
When your soul was bowed in sorrow,
Balm of Gilead did you borrow
At the gates of day?

CHORUS
O how praying rests the weary!
Prayer will change the night to day;
So when life seems dark and dreary,
Donít forget to pray.

*For Today*: Matthew 5:44, 6:9-13, 21:22; Mark 11:25; Luke 18:1; I Thessalonians 5:17

Practice sensing God's presence even amidst the noise and clamor of your busy day. Don't forget to pray for the ongoing ministries of your local church. Use the example prayer Jesus gave His disciples for guidance in how to pray...what to pray for.
