~* MY MOTHER'S BIBLE *~
M. B. Williams, written 1893.

All scripture is given by inspiration of God, and is profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for instruction in righteousness:
That the man of God may be perfect, thoroughly furnished unto all good works.
II Timothy 3:16 & 17

Everyone has a basic premise for his life's convictions. The Christian begins with Jesus Christ, Who came to Earth to reveal God to man as Emmanuel - God with us, and to reconcile man to God as Redeemer and Saviour. The Christian also believes in the absolute historicity of Jesus as recorded in the Scriptures, the only authentic record of our Lord's life and works. For God's people then, the Bible is the most important Book in life. Though penned by forty different writers from Moses to John over a period of 1600 years, there is a perfect harmony throughout all sixty-six books. This is another proof that the Book is truly "God-breathed" and that the real Author was the Holy Spirit--God Himself.

This is the day I was born in 1966. In honor of my precious, Christian Momma, I am posting this beautiful hymn that honors her, the LORD, and His Word that she taught me to value and treasure above all other possessions.

There’s a dear and precious Book,
Though it’s worn and faded now,
Which recalls those happy days of long ago,
When I stood at mother’s knee,
With her hand upon my brow,
And I heard her voice in gentle tones and low.

Blessèd Book, precious Book,
On thy dear old tear stained leaves I love to look;
Thou art sweeter day by day, as I walk the narrow way
That leads at last to that bright Home above!

As she read the stories o’er
Of those mighty men of old,
Of Joseph and of Daniel and their trials,
Of little David bold
Who became a king at last,
Of Satan and his many wicked wiles.

Blessèd Book, precious Book,
On thy dear old tear stained leaves I love to look;
Thou art sweeter day by day, as I walk the narrow way
That leads at last to that bright Home above!

Then she read of Jesus’ love,
As He blessed the children dear,
How He suffered, bled, and died upon the tree;
Of His heavy load of care,
Then she dried my flowing tears
With her kisses as she said it was for me.

Blessèd Book, precious Book,
On thy dear old tear stained leaves I love to look;
Thou art sweeter day by day, as I walk the narrow way
That leads at last to that bright Home above!

Well, those days are past and gone,
But their memory lingers still
And the dear old Book each day has been my guide;
And I seek to do His will,
As my mother taught me then,
And ever in my heart His Words abide.

Blessèd Book, precious Book,
On thy dear old tear stained leaves I love to look;
Thou art sweeter day by day, as I walk the narrow way
That leads at last to that bright Home above!

*For Today*: Psalm 119:105, 130, 160; Mark 13:31; John 1:1 & 2

Breathe a prayer of thanks to God for His Word, His written Word being our Guide for this life, and the Living Word--Jesus Christ--being the only way to Heaven.
