Glory ye in his holy name: let the heart of them rejoice that seek the LORD.
I Chronicles 16:10

Mankind was created to bring glory to God. Yes, the angels give glory to God as we see at their announcement to the shepherds of the long awaited arrival of their Messiah, born as a babe in Bethlehem to the virgin Mary. But people have a choice. We can choose to glory in Him and walk the straight and narrow way, or we can choose our own way and take the broad path to destruction.

There are several wonderful verses listed below that speak of giving glory to the name of God! HALLELUJAH! There are also verses like these in Scripture though:

Malachi 2:2, If ye will not hear, and if ye will not lay it to heart, to give glory unto my name, saith the LORD of hosts, I will even send a curse upon you, and I will curse your blessings: yea, I have cursed them already, because ye do not lay it to heart.

Revelation 16:9, And men were scorched with great heat, and blasphemed the name of God, which hath power over these plagues: and they repented not to give him glory.

One of those dire warning verses is in the past...and present really. And Revelation speaks of things to come. This beautiful hymn of praise to the name of God is one of many, many ways His children can choose to bring glory to His name.

Jeremiah 9:23 & 24:
Thus saith the LORD, Let not the wise man glory in his wisdom, neither let the mighty man glory in his might, let not the rich man glory in his riches:
But let him that glorieth glory in this, that he understandeth and knoweth me, that I am the LORD which exercise lovingkindness, judgment, and righteousness, in the earth: for in these things I delight, saith the LORD.

My heart echoes the words of Joshua of old:
...Choose you this day whom ye will serve;...but as for me and my house, we will serve the LORD.

Down at the cross where my Savior died,
Down where for cleansing from sin I cried,
There to my heart was the blood applied;
Glory to His Name!

I am so wondrously saved from sin,
Jesus so sweetly abides within;
There at the cross where He took me in;
Glory to His Name!

Oh, precious fountain that saves from sin,
I am so glad I have entered in;
There Jesus saves me and keeps me clean;
Glory to His Name!

Come to this fountain so rich and sweet,
Cast thy poor soul at the Savior's feet;
Plunge in today, and be made complete;
Glory to His Name!

Glory to His Name, glory to His Name:
There to my heart was the blood applied;
Glory to His Name!

*For Today*: I Chronicles 16:29; Psalm 29:2, 72:19, 79:9, 96:8, 105:3, 138:5

Choose to serve the LORD today by bringing glory to His name!
